Of course
the biggest news of late has been the 50th Anniversary Celebration on
October 6th. If you were there, you know what I mean when I say, wow
- what a night! After a warm up the night before at Hotel Bethlehem,
nine of the seventeen chartering members joined over one hundred brothers,
wives, and guests on Mountantop for an evening of fond memories, getting
reacquainted, food, drink (of course) and well, a golden anniversary
celebration. Bill Abbott '54 served as master of ceremonies, adding
his personal memories and tid bits throughout the evening. Lehigh University
President Farrington spoke profoundly of the role of the fraternity
today and showed us that he is an ally in our mission of bringing back
Delta Chi to campus. Lehigh University Alumni Director Chris Marshall
and Assistant Dean Michael Carey also took time out to join us.
Former 'AA'
(International President) Greg Hauser shared his thoughts on Delta Chi,
what it has done for most of us, and his personal fondness for the Lehigh
Chapter. Old photographs and memorabilia were also on display. Lots
of folks even lingered afterwards until they kicked us out! If you missed
it, alumni are already clamoring for another in five years! (we'll see...).
It was truly a special night.
A very big
thank you goes out to Brothers Bill Abbott and Russ Mallett '56, the
organizing force behind the celebration. Over a year ago, they approached
the Board asking to organize something for the 50th Anniversary. Working
with the Alumni Association, they pulled it off and did a great job
of it. Thanks again guys!
Please
check out the on line version of the Delta Dispatch. Still, only three
classes have submitted an article (Hint!). Class correspondants and
their email addresses are listed so that you may stay in touch. If inspired,
feel free to submit one yourself. I'm also accepting random blurbs such
as sightings, rumors, etc.
Regarding
Re-Colonization, the lines of communication remain open between the
Lehigh administration, International officials, and the Re-Colonization
Committee. These letters, available for view under the Documents
page, summarize where we stand on the road to get back to Lehigh. Please
help the committee head Jason
Stokes keep Delta Chi fresh on the mind of University Officials
by writing or calling.
